Fall is officially here, and I hope yours is off to a great start. If you are like many, your days are probably consumed right now by strategic planning and budget meetings. Information overload may be settling in about right now.
Wouldn’t it be great to shake loose the myopic dust and get some fresh, outside perspective — plus enjoy a little fun (and productive) networking in the process?
One of the best traditions in radio circles is the annual Forecast conference, now in its 16th year, which will be presented on November 14 at the Harvard Club in New York City. It’s an opportunity to hear from some of the industry’s leading thought leaders, revenue experts, and trend-setters. One day of non-stop, information-packed, idea-generating presentations and discussions, capped by the elegant “Top 40” reception, honoring the 40 most influential people in the radio industry.
I consider myself extremely fortunate. As publisher of Radio Ink, it’s my pleasure to work with great co-chairs every year, such as this year’s Caroline Beasley of Beasley Media Group and Marci Ryvicker of Wolfe Research, and to watch the agenda unfold over months of preparation.
It’s why I am especially excited about Forecast 2019.
In anticipation of the conference, Radio Ink Editor-in-Chief Ed Ryan interviewed Colin Kinsella, CEO of Havas North America, for the November cover story in Radio Ink magazine. Colin will be at Forecast in a special onstage chat with Caroline Beasley. Here’s a glimpse of what he has to say about radio.
“One of the best things about radio is it is real. It is there and you hear it. The fact people aren’t talking about advertising the way they used to is the reason brands aren’t doing as well as they used to. We have to get brands to break out of the cycle. If I was in radio, I would want radio to be the cycle-breaker.”
I can’t think of anything more inspiring than what Colin Kinsella will share at Forecast, especially his insight into how radio can be that “cycle breaker.” Who doesn’t want to hear more about that?

Darren Davis has assembled a superb panel on digital and where radio’s biggest revenue opportunities lie within these platforms.
Ben Arnold of the Consumer Technology Association will be sitting down with Beasley’s Buzz Knight to take the digital conversation one step further in a discussion on what’s coming down the tech pipeline and how radio can take advantage of these shiny new objects.
Randy Michaels — yes, that Randy — will delve into the investment side of the industry. This should be a lively and informative session and one not to be missed!

So here’s the deal. You can sit in the office and try to figure out the future of your business by yourself — or you can hop on a plane, boat, bus, or train, or jump in a car and be part of what is always the most provocative, informative, and frankly, exciting day of the radio industry year. All against the backdrop of the New York City skyline as it prepares for the holidays. It doesn’t get better than that!
You can — and should — be at Forecast, but seating is limited (it’s a small, intimate room) so my advice is to register today.
